About

Jakarta Cinema Club (JACk) was established in response to the lack of discussion platforms regarding film and literature, especially tailored for audiences with diverse backgrounds. This community connects individuals with fresh perspectives on a particular medium, using its array of programs as a means to foster appreciation for these differences through dialogue. JACk firmly believes that through interaction, starting with shared interests such as watching and reading, audiences can better understand and value diversity, even if it begins with seemingly small aspects.

The presence of JACk also aims to broaden the horizons of Jakarta’s audience by introducing alternative films outside the mainstream, often perceived as ‘weighty,’ although these films are widely recognized in other parts of the world. We recognize that it is not the public’s taste that is lacking, but rather the need to enhance education about works beyond the comfort zone. In the future, Jakarta Cinema Club will evolve into a multimedia platform for film and literature.

Following the success of both offline and online events, including screenings and discussions, Jakarta Cinema Club now takes the form of The Page Podcast. The Page explores topics surrounding the absurdities of daily life through the lens of film and literature. All episodes of The Page are exclusively available for listening on Spotify.

Jakarta Cinema Club has also served as a media partner and collaborator for several major events, including Maverick Mini Festival, Latin American Film Festival (LAFF), Sundance Film Festival Asia, Jakarta Film Week, Young Talent Movie Festival, Australian-Indonesian Film Festival, IM3 Collabonation Series, Kineforum, Mola TV, Go-Play, Cineworld Asia, Institut français Indonésie, Goethe-Institut Indonesien, Istituto Italiano di Cultura Jakarta, and many other events.
